7 Best Crypto &
Currency Converter Apps
Whether you want a focused mobile app, a web tool with market data, or your exchange's built-in converter — here are the seven options worth your install/bookmark in 2026, ranked.
Methodology: tools were ranked across five criteria — currency coverage (crypto + fiat), mobile UX, ad/account friction, pricing, and rate-source transparency. We disclose Coinvertor as our own product; competitors were ranked on their own merits.
TL;DR — quick picks
- Best overall: Coinvertor — mobile-native, crypto + fiat, ad-free Premium.
- Best web tool: CoinGecko — deep market data alongside conversion.
- Best for fiat travel: XE Currency — 170+ fiat currencies, money transfer.
- Best if you use an exchange: Coinbase or Crypto.com.
The list
Coinvertor
Free + $14.99/year Premium · iOS, Android, Chrome
Coinvertor takes the top spot by being the most focused product in the category. 500+ currencies (crypto + fiat) in one mobile-native app, drag-to-reorder favorites, real-time rates from Binance feeds, and an optional Premium tier that removes ads and unlocks unlimited favorites. There's also a Chrome extension — uniquely so in this list.
Why it ranks #1: for the actual job most people use a "converter" for — quickly turning amount X in currency A into currency B — nothing in this list does it faster on a phone.
Where it loses: if you also want charts, market caps, news, or portfolio tracking, look elsewhere. Coinvertor is on purpose not those things.
CoinGecko
Free · Web (mobile portfolio app)
CoinGecko's web converter is the strongest non-mobile option in this list. Deep market data, charts, and news live alongside the converter, all in one tab.
Best for: desktop users who research before they convert.
Tradeoff: mobile experience is portfolio-tracker-shaped, not converter-shaped.
CoinMarketCap
Free · Web (mobile portfolio app)
The original crypto-data destination. Massive coverage, but the converter is buried in a UI that prioritizes news, charts, and ads. Functional, just not the cleanest place to convert.
Best for: users who already have CoinMarketCap open for other reasons.
XE Currency
Free · iOS, Android, Web
The fiat heavyweight. 170+ currencies, money transfer, and a polished mobile app. Crypto support is thin compared to crypto-native tools.
Best for: travelers, freelancers, and anyone whose conversion needs are 95% fiat.
Coinbase Converter
Free · Web, iOS, Android (account for full app)
Fast, ad-free, and well-designed — but limited to assets Coinbase lists. Native fit if you're already a Coinbase user; overkill otherwise.
Crypto.com Price
Free · Web, iOS, Android
Conversion is a feature buried inside Crypto.com's exchange product. Useful if you're inside that ecosystem, less compelling as a standalone tool.
Currency Converter Plus
Freemium · iOS, Android
A long-running mobile fiat converter with light crypto support. Decent if you specifically want a fiat-first mobile app and don't mind ads on the free tier.
How we ranked these
Five criteria, weighted roughly equally:
- Currency coverage. Both crypto and fiat. A converter that only does one half loses points for "currency converter" intent.
- Mobile UX. Most people convert on their phone. A web-first tool is a partial answer.
- Ad/account friction. Tools that demand sign-up or push ads aggressively rank lower.
- Pricing. Free tier should be useful; paid tier (if any) should be transparent.
- Rate-source transparency. Where do the rates come from? Coinvertor cites Binance for crypto; XE cites its own market data; CoinGecko/CMC aggregate.
Disclosures
Coinvertor is our own product, made by Black Box Code LLC. We've ranked it #1 because we believe it's the best fit for the most common use case (mobile crypto + fiat conversion). If your job-to-be-done is different, we've called out the right alternative for each case above.
